little sister ~ 9 day old baby girl {concord newborn photographer}

Say hello to the sweetest 9 day old girl. This awesome family welcomed a little sister and are smitten with her! You’ll probably remember them from their stunning maternity session a few weeks ago <3 They came to my studio this morning for her newborn session and I’m so happy I could capture this special time for their family! Big brother E is so intrigued with this tiny human his mom and dad brought home, just from a little distance 🙂 Their sweet girl was so cute and I love all the purples, browns and greens we used in her set ups! Her parents will have some funny stories to tell her when she gets older (we had slightly more laundry than usual this time ;))…but more importantly, they will have these photos to show her how precious she was and always will be <3 Here are several favorites from our time together – Enjoy!

baby alice jane 2015 ~ our girl {lake wylie newborn photographer}

Our baby GIRL is here! We are SO in love! Alice Jane was born on 2.19.2015, 5:31pm, 7lb 13oz, 21 inches, and she is perfect 🙂 Of course I am biased but seriously…she is. She’s a good sleeper, good eater, only fussy when her belly is empty and she loves to SMILE. I’ve been posting a ton of her sleepy newborn smiles to my instagram feed (#alicejane219) and even caught a few in the studio shots. Now that she is 2 weeks old the smiles are getting fewer and far between, yet I have to believe she’s just that HAPPY boys are absolutely smitten with their little sister. It truly feels like our family is now complete ~ an absolute blessing.

In my last maternity photo post I mentioned that she was scheduled for delivery at the end of the month (the 24th). But at my last dr appointment my body was showing signs of preeclampsia. I was very fortunate this pregnancy to not have any complications from my autoimmune issues (and had actually been taking a baby aspirin daily to help prevent preeclampsia), but as soon as my ob saw my platelet count drop she brought me in for my c-section the same day. I’m incredibly thankful to have had a safe and smooth delivery! Aside from my immune system coming back with a vengeance 🙁 both Alice and I are doing well <3

Our time spent at Presbyterian Main was great. My good friend and amazing photographer Amy Kolodziej came to capture Baby Alice’s first hours – the hospital photos she took are absolutely priceless to me! I feel so blessed to have had her take them for us newborn photos. I knew that there was no way I would be able to do a full session with her. Instead I did 1 or 2 set ups and tried to shoot every other day between day 3 and 14 of her life. I’m excited with the shots I was able to get! The one of she and I together was one of the hardest photos I’ve ever tried to take with a tripod…yet so worth it 🙂 I know I’ll be taking more over the next month while I am out on maternity leave but here are my favorites from the first 2 weeks of her life.
